     James Runciman appeared on the census of 1851 Wilmot, Waterloo Co., Canada West (ONT), CAN, enumerated as RUNCIMAN: James 61 milwright; Agnes 30, James milwright 35, David 20 all b SCT Presby (ages at next birthday); 1 person listed as absent. Census taker notes: "one saw mill, one flouring mill, one person employed in each; water power; Cost of both about fifteen hundred pounds; saw mill producing about seventy five pounds net profit. Grist mill producing about two hundred and fifty pounds net.
The mills above mentioned are situate on Lot 21 1 Conc Block A Wilmot Judging from situation and their circumstances I think if properly managed might be made much more profitable."12 He appeared on the census of 1861 Goderich, Huron Sth, Canada West (ONT), CAN, in the household of David Runciman.11 James Runciman appeared on the census of 1861 Goderich, Huron Sth, Canada West (ONT), as neighbour of Robert M Runciman and Martha Runciman.13
